Hello! I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself.
Professionally, I am board certified and licensed in WI as an Occupational Therapist, since 1999. In college, I focused my studies in mental health (vs. physical disability). I am an avid learner. Over the years, I have also become an advanced energy medicine practioner. I spent several years studying other cultures' healing practices. In 2010, after years of studying healing practices of Japan, I received certification as a Reiki master teacher under Dr. Usui lineage and have since taught 70+ students in small group settings. In 2012, I became a mesa carrier in the Peruvian shaman tradition.
In 2013, frustrated with the mainstream healthcare system, I branched off on my own doing business as Everyday Wellness, LLC. In 2018, I expanded my studies in mental health and received certification in Mental Health First Aid and in Emotional CPR (how to revive our emotional hearts in the midst of crisis, trauma and distress), and have since renewed the certifications. I have also taken a variety of continuing education classes in craniosacral therapy, myofacial release and other hands-on modalities. In 2020, I utilized my down time during the pandemic, by taking online classes from Cornell University and received a Wellness Counselor certificate. During the winter/spring of 2021, I completed online classes through UW-Madison and received a Grief Support Specialist certificate. Currently, I am enrolled in the Treating Trauma Advanced Master Series from the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine with instruction from Bessel van der Kolk, MD, Stephen Porges, PhD (Polyvagal Theory), Pat Ogden, PhD, Peter Levine, PhD, and others.
I am a strong promoter of mental health and living a balanced healthy lifestyle. I have a passion for empowering adults and teenagers to live well and stay well. My combined educational background and lived experiences grant me the ability to integrate traditional, complementary and supportive therapeutic approaches that can be tailored specifically to your needs. Not only do I have the professional experience, I have personal experience with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and burnout from living an unbalanced lifestyle and from past traumas; which, by the way, I have successfully overcome, so I am living proof the modalities that I offer work! Plus due to my experiences, I am able to empathize while providing support and guidance, which many of my clients have reported as beneficial.
When needed, I provide teaching assistance for Upledger's CranioSacral Therapy classes (CS-1 & CS-2) for the International Alliance of Healthcare Educators (IAHE).
My personal interests include learning, aviation, exploring new places, eating dark chocolate and caring for animals (currently multiple cats). I live in the Milwaukee area, because my immediate and extended family are very important to me.
I am committed to empowering individuals, like yourself, in discovering your own inherent healing abilities. I look forward to meeting you!
Namaste,
Jean
